Psalm 107:All
1O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!
2Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has delivered from the hand of the adversary,
3And gathered them out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the [Red] Sea in the south.
4Some wandered in the wilderness in a solitary desert track; they found no city for habitation.
5Hungry and thirsty, they fainted; their lives were near to being extinguished.
6Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.
7He led them forth by the straight and right way, that they might go to a city where they could establish their homes.
8Oh, that men would praise [and confess to] the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men!
9For He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with good.
10Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and in irons,
11Because they had rebelled against the words of God and spurned the counsel of the Most High.
12Therefore He bowed down their hearts with hard labor; they stumbled and fell down, and there was none to help.
13Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses.
14He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke apart the bonds that held them.
15Oh, that men would praise [and confess to] the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men!
16For He has broken the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron apart.
17Some are fools [made ill] because of the way of their transgressions and are afflicted because of their iniquities.
18They loathe every kind of food, and they draw near to the gates of death.
19Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivers them out of their distresses.
20He sends forth His word and heals them and rescues them from the pit and destruction.
21Oh, that men would praise [and confess to] the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men!
22And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving and rehearse His deeds with shouts of joy and singing!
    23Some go down to the sea and travel over it in ships to do business in great waters;
24These see the works of the Lord and His wonders in the deep.
25For He commands and raises up the stormy wind, which lifts up the waves of the sea.
26[Those aboard] mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the deeps; their courage melts away because of their plight.
27They reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man and are at their wits' end [all their wisdom has come to nothing].
28Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses.
29He hushes the storm to a calm and to a gentle whisper, so that the waves of the sea are still.
30Then the men are glad because of the calm, and He brings them to their desired haven.
31Oh, that men would praise [and confess to] the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men!
32Let them exalt Him also in the congregation of the people and praise Him in the company of the elders.
33He turns rivers into a wilderness, water springs into a thirsty ground,
34A fruitful land into a barren, salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
    35He turns a wilderness into a pool of water and a dry ground into water springs;
36And there He makes the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation,
37And sow fields, and plant vineyards which yield fruits of increase.
38He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly, and allows not their cattle to decrease.
39When they are diminished and bowed down through oppression, trouble, and sorrow,
40He pours contempt upon princes and causes them to wander in waste places where there is no road.
41Yet He raises the poor and needy from affliction and makes their families like a flock.
42The upright shall see it and be glad, but all iniquity shall shut its mouth.
43Whoso is wise [if there be any truly wise] will observe and heed these things; and they will diligently consider the mercy and loving-kindness of the Lord.

Psalm 116:1-7
1I love the Lord, because He has heard [and now hears] my voice and my supplications.
2Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.
3The cords and sorrows of death were around me, and the terrors of Sheol (the place of the dead) had laid hold of me; I suffered anguish and grief (trouble and sorrow).
4Then called I upon the Name of the Lord: O Lord, I beseech You, save my life and deliver me!
5Gracious is the Lord, and [rigidly] righteous; yes, our God is merciful.
6The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He helped and saved me.
7Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

Psalm 118:19-21
19Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will enter through them, and I will confess and praise the Lord.
20This is the gate of the Lord; the [uncompromisingly] righteous shall enter through it.
21I will confess, praise, and give thanks to You, for You have heard and answered me; and You have become my Salvation and Deliverer.

Psalm 118:28-29
28You are my God, and I will confess, praise, and give thanks to You; You are my God, I will extol You.
29O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever.

1In my distress I cried to the Lord, and He answered me.

Psalm 125:1-2
1Those who trust in, lean on, and confidently hope in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides and stands fast forever.
2As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about His people from this time forth and forever.

5They who sow in tears shall reap in joy and singing.
6He who goes forth bearing seed and weeping [at needing his precious supply of grain for sowing] shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Psalm 127:1-2
1Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.
2It is vain for you to rise up early, to take rest late, to eat the bread of [anxious] toil--for He gives [blessings] to His beloved [even] in sleep.

Psalm 139:1-18
1O Lord, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me.
2You know my downsitting and my uprising; You understand my thought afar off.
3You sift and search out my path and my lying down, and You are acquainted with all my ways.
4For there is not a word in my tongue [still unuttered], but, behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
5You have beset me and shut me in--behind and before, and You have laid Your hand upon me.
6Your [infinite] knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high above me, I cannot reach it.
7Where could I go from Your Spirit? Or where could I flee from Your presence?
8If I ascend up into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol (the place of the dead), behold, You are there.
9If I take the wings of the morning or dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10Even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.
11If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me and the night shall be [the only] light about me,
12Even the darkness hides nothing from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You.
13For You did form my inward parts; You did knit me together in my mother's womb.
14I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful [awe-inspiring] wonder of my birth! Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well.
15My frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately and curiously wrought [made, as if embroidered with various colors] in the depths of the earth [a region of darkness and mystery].
16Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.
17How precious and weighty also are Your thoughts toward me, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
18If I could count them, they would be more in number than the sand. When I awoke, [could I count to the end] I would still be with You.

2Every day [with its new reasons] will I bless You [affectionately and gratefully praise You]; yes, I will praise Your Name forever and ever.
3Great is the Lord and highly to be praised; and His greatness is [so vast and deep as to be] unsearchable.
4One generation shall laud Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts.
5On the glorious splendor of Your majesty and on Your wondrous works I will meditate.
6Men shall speak of the might of Your tremendous and terrible [awe-inspiring] acts, and I will declare Your greatness.
7They shall pour forth [like a fountain] the fame of Your great and abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of Your rightness and justice.

Psalm 145:8-21
8The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and loving-kindness.
9The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works [the entirety of things created].
10All Your works shall praise You, O Lord, and Your loving ones shall bless You [affectionately and gratefully shall Your saints confess and praise You]!
11They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power,
12To make known to the sons of men God's mighty deeds and the glorious majesty of His kingdom.
13Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
14The Lord upholds all those [of His own] who are falling and raises up all those who are bowed down.
15The eyes of all wait for You [looking, watching, and expecting] and You give them their food in due season.
16You open Your hand and satisfy every living thing with favor.
17The Lord is [rigidly] righteous in all His ways and gracious and merciful in all His works.
18The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth.
19He will fulfill the desires of those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them.
20The Lord preserves all those who love Him, but all the wicked will He destroy.
21My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord; and let all flesh [living beings] bless (affectionately and gratefully praise) His holy Name forever and ever.

2 Samuel 22:2-20
    2He said: The Lord is my Rock and my Fortress [in the wilderness] and my Deliverer;
3My God, my Rock, in Him will I take refuge; my Shield and the Horn of my salvation; my Stronghold and my Refuge, my Savior--You save me from violence.
4I call on the Lord, Who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.
5For the waves of death enveloped me; the torrents of destruction made me afraid.
6The cords of Sheol were entangling me; I encountered the snares of death.
7In my distress I called upon the Lord; I cried to my God, and He heard my voice from His temple; my cry came into His ears.
8Then the earth reeled and quaked, the foundations of the heavens trembled and shook because He was angry.
9Smoke went up from His nostrils, and devouring fire from His mouth; coals were kindled by it.
10He bowed the heavens and came down; thick darkness was under His feet.
11He rode on a cherub and flew; He was seen upon the wings of the wind.
12He made darkness His canopy around Him, gathering of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
13Out of the brightness before Him coals of fire flamed forth.
14The Lord thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered His voice.
15He sent out arrows and scattered them; lightning confused and troubled them.
16The channels of the sea were visible, the foundations of the world were uncovered at the rebuke of the Lord, at the blast of the breath of His nostrils.
17He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of great waters.
18He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.
19They came upon me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my stay.
20He brought me forth into a large place; He delivered me because He delighted in me.

Job 22:21-30
21Acquaint now yourself with Him [agree with God and show yourself to be conformed to His will] and be at peace; by that [you shall prosper and great] good shall come to you.
22Receive, I pray you, the law and instruction from His mouth and lay up His words in your heart.
23If you return to the Almighty [and submit and humble yourself before Him], you will be built up; if you put away unrighteousness far from your tents,
24If you lay gold in the dust, and the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brook [considering them of little worth],
25And make the Almighty your gold and [the Lord] your precious silver treasure,
26Then you will have delight in the Almighty, and you will lift up your face to God.
27You will make your prayer to Him, and He will hear you, and you will pay your vows.
28You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God's favor] shall shine upon your ways.
29When they make [you] low, you will say, [There is] a lifting up; and the humble person He lifts up and saves.
30He will even deliver the one [for whom you intercede] who is not innocent; yes, he will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.

    3And shall make Him of quick understanding, and His delight shall be in the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, neither decide by the hearing of His ears;
4But with righteousness and justice shall He judge the poor and decide with fairness for the meek, the poor, and the downtrodden of the earth; and He shall smite (destroy) the earth and the oppressor with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.
5And righteousness shall be the girdle of His waist and faithfulness the girdle of His loins.

Isaiah 30:18
18And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!

4[The Servant of God says] The Lord God has given Me the tongue of a disciple and of one who is taught, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He wakens Me morning by morning, He wakens My ear to hear as a disciple [as one who is taught].
5The Lord God has opened My ear, and I have not been rebellious or turned backward.

Isaiah 54:1-4
1 Sing, O barren one, you who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who did not travail with child! For the [spiritual] children of the desolate one will be more than the children of the married wife, says the Lord.
2Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; spare not; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes,
3For you will spread abroad to the right hand and to the left; and your offspring will possess the nations and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
4Fear not, for you shall not be ashamed; neither be confounded and depressed, for you shall not be put to shame. …

Isaiah 54:17
17But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.

Isaiah 55:8-11
8For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord.
9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.
10For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
11So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Isaiah 58:5-12
5Is such a fast as yours what I have chosen, a day for a man to humble himself with sorrow in his soul? [Is true fasting merely mechanical?] Is it only to bow down his head like a bulrush and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him [to indicate a condition of heart that he does not have]? Will you call this a fast and an acceptable day to the Lord?
6[Rather] is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every [enslaving] yoke?
7Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house--when you see the naked, that you cover him, and that you hide not yourself from [the needs of] your own flesh and blood?
8Then shall your light break forth like the morning, and your healing (your restoration and the power of a new life) shall spring forth speedily; your righteousness (your rightness, your justice, and your right relationship with God) shall go before you [conducting you to peace and prosperity], and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
9Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, Here I AM. If you take away from your midst yokes of oppression [wherever you find them], the finger pointed in scorn [toward the oppressed or the godly], and every form of false, harsh, unjust, and wicked speaking,
10And if you pour out that with which you sustain your own life for the hungry and satisfy the need of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness, and your obscurity and gloom become like the noonday.
11And the Lord shall guide you continually and satisfy you in drought and in dry places and make strong your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden and like a spring of water whose waters fail not.
12And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of [buildings that have laid waste for] many generations; and you shall be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.

Isaiah 59:21
21As for Me, this is My covenant with them, says the Lord: My Spirit, Who is upon you [and Who writes the law of God inwardly on the heart], and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouths of your [true, spiritual] children, or out of the mouths of your children's children, says the Lord, from henceforth and forever.

9In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His presence saved them; in His love and in His pity [compassion] He redeemed them; and He lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.

Isaiah 64:1-4
1Oh, that You would rend the heavens and that You would come down, that the mountains might quake and flow down at Your presence--
2As when fire kindles the brushwood and the fire causes the waters to boil--to make Your Name known to Your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Your presence!
3When You did terrible things which we did not expect, You came down; the mountains quaked at Your presence.
4For from of old no one has heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who works and shows Himself active on behalf of him who [earnestly] waits for Him.

Romans 8:15
15For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father!

Romans 8:26-27
26So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.
27And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God's will.

Romans 8:28-30
28We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
29For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.
30And those whom He thus foreordained, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified (acquitted, made righteous, putting them into right standing with Himself). And those whom He justified, He also glorified [raising them to a heavenly dignity and condition or state of being].

Romans 8:32-35
32He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?
33Who shall bring any charge against God's elect [when it is] God Who justifies [that is, Who puts us in right relation to Himself? Who shall come forward and accuse or impeach those whom God has chosen? Will God, Who acquits [frees] us?]
34Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us?
35Who shall ever separate us from Christ's love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation? Or calamity and distress? Or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword?

Romans 8:37-39
37Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.
38For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers,
39Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 9:11
