John 17:All
1When Jesus had spoken these things, He lifted up His eyes to heaven and said, Father, the hour has come. Glorify and exalt and honor and magnify Your Son, so that Your Son may glorify and extol and honor and magnify You.
2[Just as] You have granted Him power and authority over all flesh (all humankind), [now glorify Him] so that He may give eternal life to all whom You have given Him.
3And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.
4I have glorified You down here on the earth by completing the work that You gave Me to do.
5And now, Father, glorify Me along with Yourself and restore Me to such majesty and honor in Your presence as I had with You before the world existed.
6I have manifested Your Name [I have revealed Your very Self, Your real Self] to the people whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have obeyed and kept Your word.
7Now [at last] they know and understand that all You have given Me belongs to You [is really and truly Yours].
8For the [uttered] words that You gave Me I have given them; and they have received and accepted [them] and have come to know positively and in reality [to believe with absolute assurance] that I came forth from Your presence, and they have believed and are convinced that You did send Me.
9I AM praying for them. I AM not praying (requesting) for the world, but for those You have given Me, for they belong to You.
10All [things that are] Mine are Yours, and all [things that are] Yours belong to Me; and I AM glorified in (through) them. [They have done Me honor; in them My glory is achieved.]
11And [now] I AM no more in the world, but these are [still] in the world, and I AM coming to You. Holy Father, keep in Your Name [in the knowledge of Yourself] those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We [are one].
12While I was with them, I kept and preserved them in Your Name [in the knowledge and worship of You]. Those You have given Me I guarded and protected, and not one of them has perished or is lost except the son of perdition [Judas Iscariot--the one who is now doomed to destruction, destined to be lost], that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
13And now I AM coming to You; I say these things while I AM still in the world, so that My joy may be made full and complete and perfect in them [that they may experience My delight fulfilled in them, that My enjoyment may be perfected in their own souls, that they may have My gladness within them, filling their hearts].
14I have given and delivered to them Your word (message) and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world [do not belong to the world], just as I AM not of the world.
15I do not ask that You will take them out of the world, but that You will keep and protect them from the evil one.
16They are not of the world (worldly, belonging to the world), [just] as I AM not of the world.
17Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth.
18Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.
19And so for their sake and on their behalf I sanctify (dedicate, consecrate) Myself, that they also may be sanctified (dedicated, consecrated, made holy) in the Truth.
20Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching,
21That they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me.
22I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one [even] as We are one:
23I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me.
24Father, I desire that they also whom You have entrusted to Me [as Your gift to Me] may be with Me where I AM, so that they may see My glory, which You have given Me [Your love gift to Me]; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
25O just and righteous Father, although the world has not known You and has failed to recognize You and has never acknowledged You, I have known You [continually]; and these men understand and know that You have sent Me.
26I have made Your Name known to them and revealed Your character and Your very Self, and I will continue to make [You] known, that the love which You have bestowed upon Me may be in them [felt in their hearts] and that I [Myself] may be in them.

John 21:3-11
3Simon Peter said to them, I am going fishing! They said to him, And we are coming with you! So they went out and got into the boat, and throughout that night they caught nothing.
4Morning was already breaking when Jesus came to the beach and stood there. However, the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
5So Jesus said to them, Boys (children), you do not have any meat (fish), do you? [Have you caught anything to eat along with your bread?] They answered Him, No!
6And He said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find [some]. So they cast the net, and now they were not able to haul it in for such a big catch (mass, quantity) of fish [was in it].
7Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, It is the Lord! Simon Peter, hearing him say that it was the Lord, put (girded) on his upper garment (his fisherman's coat, his outer tunic)--for he was stripped [for work]--and sprang into the sea.
8And the other disciples came in the small boat, for they were not far from shore, only some hundred yards away, dragging the net full of fish.
9When they got out on land (the beach), they saw a fire of coals there and fish lying on it [cooking], and bread.
10Jesus said to them, Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.
11So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net to land, full of large fish, 153 of them; and [though] there were so many of them, the net was not torn.

John 21:15-17
15When they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these [others do--with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father]? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You [that I have deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. He said to him, Feed My lambs.
16Again He said to him the second time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father]? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You [that I have a deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. He said to him, Shepherd (tend) My sheep.
17He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with a deep, instinctive, personal affection for Me, as for a close friend]? Peter was grieved (was saddened and hurt) that He should ask him the third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know everything; You know that I love You [that I have a deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep.

Revelation 3:19
19Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].

Revelation 21:1-7
1Then I saw a new sky (heaven) and a new earth, for the former sky and the former earth had passed away (vanished), and there no longer existed any sea.
    2And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, all arrayed like a bride beautified and adorned for her husband;
3Then I heard a mighty voice from the throne and I perceived its distinct words, saying, See! The abode of God is with men, and He will live (encamp, tent) among them; and they shall be His people, and God shall personally be with them and be their God.
4God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish (sorrow and mourning) nor grief nor pain any more, for the old conditions and the former order of things have passed away.
5And He Who is seated on the throne said, See! I make all things new. Also He said, Record this, for these sayings are faithful (accurate, incorruptible, and trustworthy) and true (genuine).
6And He [further] said to me, It is done! I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I [Myself] will give water without price from the fountain (springs) of the water of Life.
7He who is victorious shall inherit all these things, and I will be God to him and he shall be My son.

Psalmists wrote about God’s demonstrated love and care:

Psalm 1:1-6
1Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.
2But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.
3And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].
4Not so the wicked [those disobedient and living without God are not so]. But they are like the chaff [worthless, dead, without substance] which the wind drives away.
5Therefore the wicked [those disobedient and living without God] shall not stand [justified] in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous [those who are upright and in right standing with God].
6For the Lord knows and is fully acquainted with the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly [those living outside God's will] shall perish (end in ruin and come to nothing).

Psalm 3:3-6
3But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
4With my voice I cry to the Lord, and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
5I lay down and slept; I wakened again, for the Lord sustains me.
6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me round about.

Psalm 4:3-8
3But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself [and given distinction to] him who is godly [the man of loving-kindness]. The Lord listens and heeds when I call to Him.
4Be angry [or stand in awe] and sin not; commune with your own hearts upon your beds and be silent (sorry for the things you say in your hearts). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
5Offer just and right sacrifices; trust (lean on and be confident) in the Lord.
6Many say, Oh, that we might see some good! Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O Lord.
7You have put more joy and rejoicing in my heart than [they know] when their wheat and new wine have yielded abundantly.
8In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust.

Psalm 5:7-8
7But as for me, I will enter Your house through the abundance of Your steadfast love and mercy; I will worship toward and at Your holy temple in reverent fear and awe of You.
8Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way level (straight and right) before my face.

Psalm 5:11-12
11But let all those who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy, because You make a covering over them and defend them; let those also who love Your Name be joyful in You and be in high spirits.
12For You, Lord, will bless the [uncompromisingly] righteous [him who is upright and in right standing with You]; as with a shield You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor).

Psalm 7:9
9Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the [uncompromisingly] righteous [those upright and in harmony with You]; for You, Who try the hearts and emotions and thinking powers, are a righteous God.

10My defense and shield depend on God, Who saves the upright in heart.

17I will give to the Lord the thanks due to His rightness and justice, and I will sing praise to the Name of the Lord Most High.

Psalm 8:All
1O Lord, our Lord, how excellent (majestic and glorious) is Your Name in all the earth! You have set Your glory on [or above] the heavens.
2Out of the mouths of babes and unweaned infants You have established strength because of Your foes, that You might silence the enemy and the avenger.
3When I view and consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained and established,
4What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him?
5Yet You have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings], and You have crowned him with glory and honor.
6You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet:
7All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field,
8The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9O Lord, our Lord, how excellent (majestic and glorious) is Your Name in all the earth!

Psalm 9:9-10
9The Lord also will be a refuge and a high tower for the oppressed, a refuge and a stronghold in times of trouble (high cost, destitution, and desperation).
10And they who know Your Name [who have experience and acquaintance with Your mercy] will lean on and confidently put their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek (inquire of and for) You [on the authority of God's Word and the right of their necessity].

Psalm 15:1-5
1Lord, who shall dwell [temporarily] in Your tabernacle? Who shall dwell [permanently] on Your holy hill?
2He who walks and lives uprightly and blamelessly, who works rightness and justice and speaks and thinks the truth in his heart,
    3He who does not slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor;
    4In whose eyes a vile person is despised, but he who honors those who fear the Lord (who revere and worship Him); who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5[He who] does not put out his money for interest [to one of his own people] and who will not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.

Psalm 16:3
3As for the godly (the saints) who are in the land, they are the excellent, the noble, and the glorious, in whom is all My delight.

Psalm 16:5-9
5The Lord is my chosen and assigned portion, my cup; You hold and maintain my lot.
6The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good heritage.
7I will bless the Lord, Who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.
8I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9Therefore my heart is glad and my glory [my inner self] rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety,

Psalm 18:25-26
25With the kind and merciful You will show Yourself kind and merciful, with an upright man You will show Yourself upright,
26With the pure You will show Yourself pure, and with the perverse You will show Yourself contrary.

Psalm 18:27-36
27For You deliver an afflicted and humble people but will bring down those with haughty looks.
28For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; the Lord my God illumines my darkness.
29For by You I can run through a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.
30As for God, His way is perfect! The word of the Lord is tested and tried; He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him.
31For who is God except the Lord? Or who is the Rock save our God,
32The God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect?
33He makes my feet like hinds' feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]; He sets me securely upon my high places.
34He teaches my hands to war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your right hand has held me up; Your gentleness and condescension have made me great.
36You have given plenty of room for my steps under me, that my feet would not slip.

Psalm 19:7-11
7The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
8The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes.
9The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb.
11Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward.

4May He grant you according to your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans.

6Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.

2You have given him his heart's desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah [pause, and think of that]!
3For You send blessings of good things to meet him; You set a crown of pure gold on his head.
4He asked life of You, and You gave it to him--long life forever and evermore.
5His glory is great because of Your aid; splendor and majesty You bestow upon him.
6For You make him to be blessed and a blessing forever; You make him exceedingly glad with the joy of Your presence.

Psalm 22:27-31
27All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall bow down and worship before You,
28For the kingship and the kingdom are the Lord's, and He is the ruler over the nations.
29All the mighty ones upon earth shall eat [in thanksgiving] and worship; all they that go down to the dust shall bow before Him, even he who cannot keep himself alive.
30Posterity shall serve Him; they shall tell of the Lord to the next generation.
31They shall come and shall declare His righteousness to a people yet to be born--that He has done it [that it is finished]!

Psalm 23:All
1The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
2He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.
3He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him--not for my earning it, but] for His Name's sake.
4Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.
5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.
6Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

2For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the currents and the rivers.
3Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His Holy Place?
4He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood or to what is false, nor sworn deceitfully.
5He shall receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Psalm 25:4-13
4Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.
5Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You [You only and altogether] do I wait [expectantly] all the day long.
6Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercy and loving-kindness; for they have been ever from of old.
7Remember not the sins (the lapses and frailties) of my youth or my transgressions; according to Your mercy and steadfast love remember me, for Your goodness' sake, O Lord.
8Good and upright is the Lord; therefore will He instruct sinners in [His] way.
9He leads the humble in what is right, and the humble He teaches His way.
10All the paths of the Lord are mercy and steadfast love, even truth and faithfulness are they for those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.
11For Your Name's sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquity and my guilt, for [they are] great.
12Who is the man who reverently fears and worships the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way that he should choose.
13He himself shall dwell at ease, and his offspring shall inherit the land.

15My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He will pluck my feet out of the net.
16[Lord] turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.
17The troubles of my heart are multiplied; bring me out of my distresses.
18Behold my affliction and my pain and forgive all my sins [of thinking and doing].
19Consider my enemies, for they abound; they hate me with cruel hatred.
20O keep me, Lord, and deliver me; let me not be ashamed or disappointed, for my trust and my refuge are in You.
21Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for and expect You.

Psalm 29:All
1Ascribe to the Lord, O sons of the mighty, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2Give to the Lord the glory due to His Name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness or in holy array.
3The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is upon many (great) waters.
4The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
5The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; yes, the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion (Mount Hermon) like a young, wild ox.
7The voice of the Lord splits and flashes forth forked lightning.
8The voice of the Lord makes the wilderness tremble; the Lord shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh.
9The voice of the Lord makes the hinds bring forth their young, and His voice strips bare the forests, while in His temple everyone is saying, Glory!
10The Lord sat as King over the deluge; the Lord [still] sits as King [and] forever!
11The Lord will give [unyielding and impenetrable] strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.

Psalm 31:1-6
1In You, O Lord, do I put my trust and seek refuge; let me never be put to shame or [have my hope in You] disappointed; deliver me in Your righteousness!
2Bow down Your ear to me, deliver me speedily! Be my Rock of refuge, a strong Fortress to save me!
3Yes, You are my Rock and my Fortress; therefore for Your Name's sake lead me and guide me.
4Draw me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me, for You are my Strength and my Stronghold.
5Into Your hands I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth and faithfulness.
6[You and] I abhor [hate] those who pay regard to vain idols; but I trust in, rely on, and confidently lean on the Lord.

7I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy and steadfast love, because You have seen my affliction, You have taken note of my life's distresses,

1Rejoice in the Lord, O you [uncompromisingly] righteous [you upright in right standing with God]; for praise is becoming and appropriate for those who are upright [in heart].
2Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; sing praises to Him with the harp of ten strings.
3Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully [on the strings] with a loud and joyful sound.
4For the word of the Lord is right; and all His work is done in faithfulness.
5He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the loving-kindness of the Lord.

Psalm 33:10-22
10The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nought [nothing]; He makes the thoughts and plans of the peoples of no effect.
11The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the thoughts of His heart through all generations.
12Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His heritage.
    13The Lord looks from heaven, He beholds all the sons of men;
14From His dwelling place He looks [intently] upon all the inhabitants of the earth--
15He Who fashions the hearts of them all, Who considers all their doings.
16No king is saved by the great size and power of his army; a mighty man is not delivered by [his] much strength.
17A horse is devoid of [lacks] value for victory; neither does he deliver any by his great power.
18Behold, the Lord's eye is upon those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe], who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness,
19To deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
20Our inner selves wait [earnestly] for the Lord; He is our Help and our Shield.
21For in Him does our heart rejoice, because we have trusted (relied on and been confident) in His holy Name.
22Let Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, be upon us, in proportion to our waiting and hoping for You.

Psalm 34:All
1I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2My life makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble and afflicted hear and be glad.
3O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His Name together.
4I sought (inquired of) the Lord and required Him [of necessity and on the authority of His Word], and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
5They looked to Him and were radiant; their faces shall never blush for shame or be confused.
6This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
7The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe] and each of them He delivers.
8O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him.
9O fear the Lord, you His saints [revere and worship Him]! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear.
10The young lions lack food and suffer hunger, but they who seek (inquire of and require) the Lord [by right of their need and on the authority of His Word], none of them shall lack any beneficial thing.
11Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you to revere and worshipfully fear the Lord.
12What man is he who desires life and longs for many days, that he may see good?
13Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.
14Depart from evil and do good; seek, inquire for, and crave peace and pursue (go after) it!
15The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry.
16The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles.
18The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent.
19Many evils confront the [consistently] righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
20He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.
21Evil shall cause the death of the wicked; and they who hate the just and righteous shall be held guilty and shall be condemned.
22The Lord redeems the lives of His servants, and none of those who take refuge and trust in Him shall be condemned or held guilty.
